Curridabat, Costa Rica

It located in Curridabat, an upscale neighborhood that lies right outside of San Jose. Curridabat has many fine restaurants, parks, gyms, clubs, shopping malls, movie theaters, and a happening nightlife, which are all within walking distance!

For all of the ice cream lovers out there, there is a famous Costa Rican ice cream shop called Pops located next door to the school. So after a long day in class or on a hot Costa Rican day, you can treat yourself to a frozen cone.

The School

The school building is modern and well maintained. There are twelve clean and spacious classrooms and two patios on the second floor that overlook the garden.

You can take Spanish grammar or Spanish conversation class in the garden.

Watch out, there is a huge mango tree in the garden and if it hears any students speaking any other language outside of Spanish, it has been known to drop mangos on the heads of the guilty party.

Testimonials

Spanish Por Favor Alumni

Name: Charles F.

State and Country: Virginia, USA

Testimonial:   "This is a first rate school and program. It is an excellent place for individuals to go to learn or improve their Spanish or for study abroad programs for upper level high school students or any level college students. I have coordinated 5 different trips since 1999 for university level students to study in Costa Rica for 3-4 weeks. I feel four weeks is most beneficial to anyone at any level; however, some is always better than none.

The school has excellent teachers. The staff is very accommodating, helpful and always willing to do whatever it takes to make the experience there the best it can be. My students have always returned home with nothing but wonderfully favorable comments on the entire experience. Moreover, they have enjoyed the homestay experiences which is further testimonial to the wonderful nature of the Ticos.

Lastly, the excursions offered are really great ways to get a study break and become more familiar with the many different aspects of Costa Rica.

I have no hesitation to recommend the school to anyone wishing to have a truly wonderful and beneficial life experience by going abroad to study Spanish."

Testimonial: "The University of Louisiana at Monroe has always been very pleased with the school. The faculty is very good, the families are carefully chosen, and the organization of activities is very well done. Nuria, Emma, the teachers, and all the staff work very hard to provide a quality educational experience and a safe learning environment. We have so much confidence in the school that we will allow students go alone to Costa Rica when they cannot go with our group.
