School History
Our Affiliate Spanish Language School (ASLS) in Buenos Aires opened it's doors in 2003. The school is the only private Spanish language school in Argentina that is certified and recognized as an International Association of Language Centers (IALC) member. This membership requires that all member schools are inspected and evaluated to assure that the quality of education remains superior. The director states that, "Whether you are an experienced student of the Spanish language or just beginning, our school provides the opportunity for rapid improvement and an ideal environment to immerse yourself in every aspect of the local culture. Between our small classes and the need for the language in daily situations, you will rapidly advance by learning to use the language both inside and outside the school".
The school has two centrally located schools that are based in the heart of Recolleta, an eclectic and young neighborhood filled with nightlife, attractions, parks, and cafes. This neighborhood is sure to keep you busy outside of class. The school has rolling admissions and provides their students with diplomas on the last day of class. School Location
As stated above, our ASLS in Buenos Aires is located in the heart of the Recolleta. The school is located a few blocks away from one of the most famous cemeteries in Argentina, home to Evita and other important Argentinean history makers. Buenos Aires is often referred to as the "Paris of South America" because of its strong European cultural influence. Much of the city's architecture has been said to resemble that of Rome, Paris, and Barcelona.
Buenos Aires is also home to a world-renowned zoo and botanical garden as well as a number of beautiful parks and architecturally unique structures. The climate in Buenos Aires varies heavily depending on the season. In the winter months of April – August, it can reach as low as 10 degrees Celsius and as high as 35 degrees Celsius in their Summer months of November – March. However, don’t let either season scare you; the country has year-round activities for everyone. The School
The main school facility has two floors in an incredibly authentic building, which is over 100 years old. This school has twenty-five classrooms, seven of which have A/C and eighteen of which have ceiling fans. All classrooms are well ventilated and widows with natural light are sure to keep you engaged and cool.
The second school, which is utilized during the high season, is located two blocks from the main school. On the top floor there is a beautiful terrace where barbecues are held. This terrace is also used for outside classes, as a place to study, talk, smoke or just relax and enjoy the fresh air and the view of the surrounding area. Technology
The schools are equipped with fax machines and hard lines, but cell phones are recommended to make local and long-distance calls, which are easily accessible through phone stores located all over the city. The schools offers free coffee, snacks and water every day and has a warm and helpful staff, which is there to serve you everyday. Cultural and Social Learning Activities
The school plans and organizes weekly cultural activities like city tours, cooking lessons, tango classes, museum tours, visits to parks and bars and trips to football matches. Students will always have access to the school's tour coordinators who work full-time to take students to various sites. Students must sign up for these cultural activities; information is posted clearly on the walls all around the school.

To be selected as an ASLS, the school must offer classes that primarily focus on developing the student's communicative skills to achieve specific goals. However, all Spanish classes will focus on oral proficiency, grammar, listening, reading and writing comprehension.
In order to place students in the appropriate language level, all are required to take a placement test on the first Monday of classes. The test usually takes one hour.
After completion, the student is placed in either a group class or one-on-one setting. Classes are fifty-five minutes long with a ten minute break in between. The pace of the class is set according to the student's language skill.
The Spanish classes are designed for you to meet your Spanish goals in a short period of time. The school has a Spanish curriculum that has twelve levels. There is beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels with sub-levels in between.

The Spanish books used are revised and updated annually and are differentiated according to language level. Beginner books are divided into 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b and so on for the intermediate and advanced. Teachers are not just locked into teaching with these books; they tend to use magazines and newspaper articles.
All of Spanish Por Favor's Spanish immersion programs are very flexible and the staff are open-minded and willing to try new and fun approaches to make learning Spanish exciting.
